The Wards to Work program is designed to promote and aid adolescent youth to achieve maximum development by enhancing their potential for becoming self-sufficient, responsible adults through education, therapy and vocational training. The program provides a therapeutic environment to educate and train probationary children. It encompasses a vocational job training program integrated with our program of Psychosocial Rehabilitation with juvenile wards of the court. Alpha Connection has developed a job curriculum for The Apple Tree. The Wards to Work program will train its juvenile wards in the retail sales and management arena for 3 weeks. The training will be accomplished by our vocational rehabilitation therapist. Secondly, Alpha Connection will monitor, assess and provide, on the job training for these minors while they are working. Their achievement and progress will be charted and analyzed by the vocational rehabilitation therapist and the supervisors at the Apple Tree. They will be paid $5.75 an hour, while working no more than 6 hours per day, 5 days a week. Minors will be required to be the age of 16 and obtain a work permit. After their stint at The Apple Tree is complete or the ending of their program, Alpha Connection will market these children for placement with prospective employers in the community. |
